Creative Direction: This concept reimagines Gothic aesthetics through a modern lens, where classic darkness meets contemporary edge. It's about more than black clothing; it's mood, symbolism, and attitude.
The brief called for a Gothic aesthetic, but not the traditional kind. It was specifically centered on New Gothic: a contemporary interpretation of the classic Gothic style. This concept guided every creative choice, from wardrobe and styling to location. The mood board reflected this modern edge, featuring abandoned urban structures, environments with statues , gazebos, and shadowy woods-settings where modernity collides with Gothic sensibilities.
The model was styled in a flowing black dress paired with a detachable leather corset, heeled platform boots designed to command presence, and sharp black manicured nails, a bold yet elegant embodiment of power. The chosen location, an unfinished concrete building; chosen to reflect modern isolation, mystery, and the power of desolation, added a raw, moody atmosphere with a distinctly modern undertone. The unfinished concrete space echoes moodiness and strength, a modern-day cathedral of grit.
Every detail was intentional. Silver cross embellishments on the dress and accessories served as symbolic anchors to the Gothic theme- appearing on earrings, necklaces, and the garment itself, each piece telling its own story. Crosses symbolize protection and power, long nails as a metaphor for control and readiness, dark tones convey depth, strength, and allure.
Each accessory tells part of the character's story. Whether for protection or power, they affirmed the character's readiness to face any lingering darkness with strength and poise.
